You will ride from the Lake Constance along the German Alps to the Nationalpark Königssee. This route shows you the diversity of German Alps. The journey begins on the island of Lindau in Lake Constance, the largest lake in Germany. You ride on quiet cycle paths through a varied mountain landscape. Numerous lakes and many cultural attractions are further highlights of this journey.

The villages along the cycle path offer Bavarian traditions, modern leisure facilities and peaceful quiet places for relaxation. A highlight of the trip is the journey to the spring of the Isar-River in the Alpine-Natural-Park Karwendelgebirge. At the end of the journey, you will reach the National Park Koenigssee in the region of Berchtesgaden and Salzburg.
A picturesque lake offers an unforgettable boat trip. There you will see the highest rock face in the eastern Alps.

General Travel Information
Start and destination of this trip is Munich. You ride from the Lake Constance (is bordered by Austria and Switzerland) along the Bavarian Alps to the famous Mozart-City Salzburg in Austria.
This sporty variant is designed for endurance cyclists who ride in hilly terrain without problems up to 100 km / 63 miles per day. Rightly for many people the most beautiful cycling tour in Germany! Magnificent route, fantastic alpine views, many lakes and the world-famous royal castles, built by King Ludwig II.

Day 1 Arrival in Munich – individual stayedmunich_center_text
Bavaria's capital city offers countless attractions. You will receive from us a brochure with tips for your stay in Munich.
Principal Areas of attractions are: Olympic-Centre, Town Hall, the Viktualienmarkt (food marked central), Hofbräuhaus, the most famous guest house in the world, German Museum, the world's largest museum of technology and science…
Guided city tour* in the evening. Beginning at 20.30 clock / 8:30 pm. Duration approx. 2 hours.

Day 2  Munich – Lindau by train
Your journey begins very relaxed in Munich Centralstation by train. The journey takes about 2:45 hours. The entrainment of your bicycle in the train is not a problem. The arrival in Lindau is exciting. The railway station is located in the historic citycentre on an island in Lake Constance. This lake is the third largest lake in Central Europe. The view of the nearby Swiss Alps increases the anticipation for the trip. After check in you can test a piece of the legendary Lake Constance cycle path.german_panorama_text2 In the evening, we offer you a small cruise on Lake Constance. Departure at 18:00 clock, duration approx 1 hour.

Day 3 Lindau – Region Immenstadt, approx. 75 km / 47 miles
Difference in altitude, only in the ascent approx. 830 Meter / 2723 ft.
You will leave the old town of Lindau and Lake Constance behind you. With a little luck you will have a beautiful panoramic view of the Swiss, Austrian and German Alps. You ride through green pastures country where numerous "lucky" cows graze. The production of cheese (e.g. Allgäuer Emmentaler) in this area is world famous!  A long descent leads you to the lake called Großer Alpsee. Shortly thereafter you reach your stage destination Immenstadt.

Day 4 Region Immenstadt – Region Füssen, approx. 55 km / 34 miles

An impressive backdrop of mountains accompanies you on the second part of the journey.
In a small mountain village you visit the most original bakery during the whole trip!
Who has eaten previously only the boring and tasteless white bread, believes to be here in paradise.
The picturesque royal palaces of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau will come into view from afar.

Day 5 Region Füssen – Garmisch-Partenkirchen approx. 75 km / 47 miles
Difference in altitude, only in the ascent approx. 450 Meter / 1476 ft.
Today you will leave the castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau behind you.
The route to Murnau on Lake Staffelsee you will cycle through a idyllic area, filled with the romance of alpine meadows.
You will pass the world famous Wieskirche (World Heritage), the church which embodies the Bavarian Rococo style – a excellent place for a break. The last few miles / kilometers lead you through the largest moorland in Central Europe. In the last part of the stage you drive along the river Loisach.
The highest mountains in Germany comes into view.  Your stage destination for today is the Olympic town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.german_panorama_unten4

Day 6 Garmisch-Partenkirchen – spring of Isar-River / Mittenwald approx. 70 km / 44 miles
Difference in altitude, only in the ascent approx. 700 Meter / 2297 ft.
Your path leads to the Olympic ski stadium and up into the mountain village of Mittenwald, based of a mighty mountain range. Mittenwald is the most famous "violins-construction-village" in Germany! The historic center has numerous painted hous-facades (Lüftlmalerei), an expression of Bavarian humor. Here you can find many original photo motives.
In the afternoon, the scenic highlight of your journey awaits you. Wonderful quiet roads lead you into a stunning world of high mountains in Austria. You always follow the Isar river. This river is getting narrower and narrower until you arrive at its spring.
At the end of the valley you visit an old Alpine pasture, 1220 meter (4002 ft) above the sea level. At least here you believe to be in a “Heidi-movie”. Your return trip is on an equal route.

Day 7 Mittenwald – Region lake Tegernsee approx. 85 km / 53 miles
Difference in altitude, only in the ascent approx. 450 Meter / 1476 ft.
The Isar bike path runs through a beautiful alpine valley. You will pass the fjord-like reservoirlake Sylvenstein the Isarwinkel region. Shortly before your destination Bad Tölz you ride through a wide nature reserve area. After Bad Tolz you ride on a very quiet forest trails over to the lake Tegernsee.
The location of the lake and the surrounding area will also impress you. Also a nice beach is ideal for swimming. Here you can admire splendid beach beauties!

Day 8 Region Tegernsee – region of Lake Chiemsee, approx. 85 km / 53 milesgerman_panorama_text5
Difference in altitude, only in the ascent approx. 890 Meter / 2920 ft.
Over a range of hills you come to the next mountain lake (Schliersee). The bike path leads quietly along the shore. Here you can also swim in the clear water and thereby enjoying the view of the mountain panorama. During this stage, the longest descent (7 km / 4,5 mi) of the trip is waiting for you. Through a wide Bavarian alpine-farmland you come to the next wide moorland. First highlight today: The village Neubeuern, with its historical center. Often it serves as a backdrop for TV movies.
In a small family-bakery you can still buy real homemade breads or cakes – without chemical additives.
Quiet roads and great bike paths lead you directly back to the alps. After a long descent, you reach Bavaria's largest lake Chiemsee.

Day 9 Lake Chiemsee – Salzburg approx. 80 km / 47 miles

First cultural highlight is the city of Traunstein, after 30 km / 19 mi, a perfect place for the first break. Emerged and became rich through trade flourishing of salt! The splendid merchants' houses on listed market are absolutely impressive.
The culinary highlight: An excellent cake at the legendary Café Oswald, directly on the historic marketplace. In this patisserie all products are homemade to their own recipes – of course without chemical preservatives.
The tour continues again (up and down) on small, quiet roads and cycle paths. The last part of the route is pleasant flat. Finally, you arrive the famous “Mozart-City” of Salzburg in Austria.
Here you'll find arts and culture in abundance.

Day 10 Salzburg – Munich by train
You can use the forenoon for an extensive sightseeing in the large, historic old town of Salzburg. With a modern train you ride without having to change from Salzburg back to Munich. The entrainment of your bicycle on the train is not a problem. Through the train windows you can see a part of your journey again. The journey takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes.
